Paul e Kathy sono una coppia di Los Angeles con la mania della videoregistrazione. Una notte sono lì con la camera proprio mentre, a poca distanza, un gruppo di poliziotti sta malmenando un pregiudicato latino-americano. Dalle botte si passa all'omicidio e Paul e Kathy capiscono al'improvviso di avere tra le mani un nastro che scotta.
